Rock The Vegas. Be a Tycoon and Build Vegas Your Own Way!
Never ones to rest upon their laurels, the developers of popular Android titles such as Paradise Island and Crime Story have created another splash in the market with their new title Rock The Vegas. It gives you the opportunity to build your own version of the casino metropolis from the sand up! In typical tycoon style you start with very little, but with some patience and luck you could looking at your own neon strip that never sleeps!
Pros
- Superb graphics!
- Fun gameplay!
- Social elements!
- Design your city exactly how you want!
- Cool sound!
- Lots to build!
- Loads of achievements!
Cons
- Building your city takes some time, slowed down by waiting as your finances to accumulate.
Features:
Rock The Vegas is an ambitious and detailed tycoon game with all manner of other gaming elements thrown in. While you can happily build your strip into a popular gambling hotspot you can also have a go at a slot machine yourself! This is actually great as you win about 1 in 3 times, significantly boosting your money early on and letting you build more.
The graphics are decidedly sweet. There is plenty of detail and you can see cars, bright lights, builders, etc. all bustling along in the city you are creating. One cool feature is that you can switch between day time and night time whenever you like. It looks pretty cool switching to night mode and seeing all the neon lights come on!
Rock The Vegas has quite a few social aspects to it. You can befriend other users, send them gifts, visit them and vote for the best cities. This makes the game more engrossing if you have a few buddies playing it too. It becomes more immersive, and like the giants of the accumulative tycoon genre Farmville and Cityville.
One element I enjoyed about the game a great deal was the freedom you have with building the city the way you want. You’re not dictated to by some ‘neighbour’ or assistant and there are no set paths to follow as you build. You are restrained by what you can build until you increase your levels, but you have no pop ups telling you what to do, which is refreshing.
The game is bound tightly together by a large collection of achievements to attain and buildings to create. You can improve your buildings too, and you have the freedom to move buildings about if your grand plan changes as you go along!
I did find the game a little slow at times, it’s the kind of thing you have to do little and often rather than accumulating lots in one big sitting. You often have to wait for money to come in from rents or profits, and does seem to drag the game a little. Especially so when you cannot build much beyond a motel or a bar in the early levels. It just feels a bit frustrating at times that you can’t build more- you get to a point where you just have to wait, which isn’t much fun. You can, of course, invest real cash into game money and chips, etc. so the motivation is there to do that if you want to.
All in all, it’s a fun and novel addition to the tycoon genre and offers a new yet familiar gaming experience.
Fun Factor:
Rock The Vegas is a great game and lots of fun. It is a bit of a slow burner, but thoroughly enjoyable on the whole. The social element to the game; from visiting friends cities to posting pics of your city onto social networks creates a community around the game. It becomes a social gaming platform in its own right as you continue to build and share.
Addictive:
While I wouldn’t phrase the game as addictive, I would say it’s compulsive. You do feel drawn back to the game after not playing for a while and you will undoubtedly have to collect cash when you go back. It’s the sort of game you play little and often rather than in big sessions.
Graphics:
Graphics are bright and of high quality. There is lots of details and even the menus and help sections are well produced and clear. Controlling the day time and night time is also lots of fun and a neat feature.
Accelerometer, Vibration & Sound:
The sound is good, although it feels a bit out of place in a game about gambling, casinos and neon lights. It’s a kind of smooth ambient dance track when I would have thought some kind of Tony Bennett/Tarantino Flick soundtrack would have fitted better. Saying this, I really really like the music, it’s great in fact, it just seems slightly out of place. This doesn’t really detract from gameplay however.

Merry Christmas , Kiss My Ass
They told me I was lucky,
To have my chance with you.
Now last year's summer romance,
Is this year's winter blues.
I treated you so nicely,
To jewelery and champagne.
But you left me empty handed, yeah,
You left me feeling play- ay ay - ed.
Now I hope you're happy with yourself
'Cause I'm not laughing
Don't you think it's kind of
Crappy what you did this holiday?
When I gave you my heart,
You ripped it apart
Like wrapping paper trash.
So I wrote you a song
Hope that you sing along and it goes,
"Merry Christmas, kiss my ass."
They say I'm losing my mind,
I thought that for a while.
I teared down decorations,
They remind me of your smile.
I hate that mistletoe,
It makes me think of our first kiss.
You bit my lip, you pulled me close,
Then you taught me how to quit.

So sick of calling,
You won't telephone me.
No, fuck you, girl I'm going out.
I gave you my all,
But our love hit a wall,
Now, I'm jingle belling and everyone's yelling
We'll drink 'til the bars shut us down.
Ain't that just what Christmas is all about?
And I hope you're happy with yourself,
'Cause I'm not laughing, (not laughing)
Don't you think it's so damn trashy
What you did this holiday?
(So trashy)
I gave you my heart, (heart)
You ripped it apart
Like the wrapping paper trash (wrapping paper trash)
So I wrote you a song,
Hope that you sing along,
Here it goes,
"Merry Christmas, (bitch), kiss my ass."

Coffee Shop Soundtrack Lyric
Should I write myself out of the history books
And mark a place in time for every chance you took?
Don't get me wrong,
I know you've got your life in place
I've yet to take the hint, someday
I'm sure I'll get the picture
And stop waiting up
When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry home
The remains of my wasted youth?
This wasted time on you
Has left me shaking in waiting,
Shaking in waiting for something more
Tonight is alive with the promise of a street-fight,
And there's money on the table
That says your cheap shots won't be able
To break bones
I've yet to break a sweat
I'll make your past regret its future
Here's to you
When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry home
The remains of my wasted youth?
This wasted time on you
Has left me shaking in waiting
For something more
Make all of my decisions for me
I've never taken the fall for deceit
I'll keep a secret if you keep me guessing
The taste of your lips says we shouldn't have met like...
Make all of my decisions for me
I've never taken the fall for deceit
We'll keep a secret if you keep me guessing
The taste of your lips says we shouldn't have met like this
I can keep a secret if you can keep me guessing
The flavor of your lips is enough to keep me pressing
For more than just a moment of truth between the lies told
To pull ourselves away from the lives we leave back
(I can keep a secret if you can keep me guessing)
The flavor of your lips is enough to keep me here, keep me here
When it all comes down
To a sunrise on the East Side,
Will you be there to carry me home?
